What is Sphynx Rescue Unfortunately, occasionally a Sphynx will fall on sad circumstances. Perhaps the owner is unable to continue to care for the Sphynx, and the breeder can not be located. A Sphynx might have been purchased in a pet shop and, as is often the case in purchases like this, the Sphynx is being neglected or even abused. Sphynx breeders have made a commitment to their breed and will not stand by knowing a Sphynx is not being cared for. Hopefully the Sphynx can be removed from the situation, and placed initially into foster care. Temperament assessment, necessary veterinary care and altering will be provided. Once the Sphynx is adjusted suitably for adoption, it will be placed into the appropriate permanent rescue home. |
What rescue is NOT ! Rescue is not a mechanism to obtain a Sphynx cheaply. Rescue Sphynx need a permanent and loving home. Due to past neglect there might be future veterinary cost involved. A fee will be attached to the Sphynx to offset the rescue costs and to maintain future rescue efforts. Sphynx Rescue does not purchase Sphynx, as this would encourage some breeders to mass produce litters and sell the "left over" kittens to Rescue to make room for a new litter. Rescue Sphynx will always be spayed/neutered prior to placement, and will never be able to be used for breeding
